Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. Victor Hugo
Educational Philosophy
Choosing to play an instrument is one of the many investments you will make in your child's education. If you are interested in having lessons as an adult, you are also taking steps towards a fuller, more satisfying future for yourself. For this adventure to be as successful as possible, you need to find a teacher that suits your needs. There are so many different approaches to learning the piano and I would like to share with you my philosophy.
I would to transmit love, respect and a deep knowledge of music to my students. In an environment which is warm, open and enthusiastic, my students will receive a solid technical background and a thorough understanding of musical language.
-
Beginners will become proficient in reading music, have a solid rhythmic understanding while learning enjoyable pieces of different styles.
-
Intermediate students will incorporate technical exercises to an ever-expanding repertoire choice. Music theory and solfège will be part of the lessons as well.
-
Advanced students will follow a similar pattern of lesson structure as would be found in most conservatories and music schools : advanced technical development and repertoire choices that reflect the musical and technical growth.
All students will have the opportunity to participate in regular group classes which allow each and everyone to have a chance to perform in a relaxed environment.
Bi-yearly studio recitals are also organised as well as performances in local retirement homes.
Students who would like, can also prepare for various exams and certificates available (ABRSM, IB, etc).
Lessons in general are once weekly and vary in length, depending on the age and level of the student.

Piano lessons are a commitment and together, we will determine how much time should be spent daily at the piano.
-
Choosing to play the piano does mean that you are choosing to make the time to practice every day.
-
It is necessary to have a real piano at home before starting lessons. Please ask me if you need help procuring one.
-
Parent's involvement is essential. For the younger students, parents are expected to practice with their child on a daily basis.

Parents of younger students are encouraged to sit in on lessons.
